friday and things i like

Despite the lovely (and unseasonable) weather of this past week, I'm glad that it's coming to a close. Changing weather and clocks makes me toss and turn at night. I am looking forward to Sunday, when I will finally be able to sleep in.

For now, here are some things I like.

I just splurged and ordered this swimsuit. Hopefully it looks as nice in person.

This piece on creating a tea ritual. It inspires me to take more time with my own morning cup. Speaking of that....

We just bought this tin of tea. It has such nice packaging!

These sunglasses.

I've been experimenting with sourdough. I have two starters sitting in my refrigerator. I've named them Fanny and Theo. This popover recipe and this waffle recipe were both highly successful.

In case there weren't enough mentions of food in this post, I thought I'd mention how awesome this book looks.

Kate wrote a great post about why you should pay attention to where your eggs come from. You should check it out.

That is all. Next week I shall be back with more film and, hopefully, tales of planting peas in the garden.

monday music: horse feathers

With the temperature set to hit 70 and sunny blue skies all around, this seemed like a good song for today. It's a day to be outside.

life on film

We went to the greenhouse for freesia and I ended up taking pictures of orchids.

Making friends...

Onions have sprouted.

Daffodils are so cheerful.

Sometimes you really just need a sundae from Ben & Jerry's. Mmmmm...

The remains of a blood orange.

Beautiful breakfast in bed.

winter jasmine

Jasmine means having a reason to look forward to February. Our sunroom smells like perfume of the gods... or at least that's how I imagine it. The plant has had a rough winter but the little star-like flowers still appeared. I'm so happy to see them.

valentine

A week ago today, the boy made me breakfast in bed. I know a lot of people don't like Valentine's Day, but I do. I like having an excuse to make a fuss and be romantic and make pretty cards. He snuck down to the kitchen before I was fully awake and returned with a tray full of french toast, juice AND tea, fruit and flowers. I felt utterly spoiled and so very lucky.

daily food

After a few failed attempts, I finally had some success making yogurt. It sure was worth the wait. We've discovered it's best with nuts and a little honey drizzled on top.

wardrobe wishes

I've been a little bit in love with Madewell ever since I first set foot in their store. The clothes are a blend of classic and boho; pretty much exactly my style. I can't stop looking at these pictures from their Spring 2012 line.
