monday music: the decemberists cover heart

Hopefully at some point this summer, I will get to experience The Decemberists live. And hopefully it will be something like this.

How awesome is Shara Worden anyway?

beautiful paris

I stumbled upon this blog via Unruly Things this afternoon, and I'm so glad I did. Looking at Lena's gorgeous pictures from her recent trip to Paris reminded me that it will be four years ago this month that I visited there for the first time! I loved pretty much everything about the city and it makes me feel incredibly wistful (in a good way) to be reminded how dear that place is to me. Here's hoping I get to return someday!

monday music: headless heroes

(Illustrations by Irana Douer)

Remember when I posted about Alela Diane way back when? Well, if you enjoyed her voice, then you might want to check out the new cd from Headless Heroes entitled, The Silence of Love. It's a dreamy, themed album of covers done by Diane and other artists and it's truly a beautiful collection. Check out one of my favorite songs off of the album below.

After some hurried searching and a little bit of stress, I am very excited to say that we have a house lined up to rent starting next month! Which means I now get to start paying attention to the fun stuff. Like decorating. I went yesterday and picked out an alarming number of paint samples to look through.

Something else I've been thinking about is artwork. These pieces by Emily Eibel caught my eye right away when I saw them posted over on Design*Sponge.

Check out more of her captivating, one of a kind artwork on her website.

monday music: fleet foxes

This past week a friend clued me in to the awesome, amazing lineup going on at the Newport Folk Festival this summer. I haven't bought my ticket quite yet, but as soon as I heard that Fleet Foxes was playing, I was sold. I've been wanting to see them live for AGES. Their self-titled cd that came out last spring was pretty much all I wanted to listen to for a good month, and it's still one of my absolute favorites.

Other highlights from the festival will include:
The Decemberists
Neko Case
Iron & Wine
Ben Kweller
Josh Ritter
Pete Seeger
and many more!

To give myself a taste of what I hope to be experiencing come August 1st, I revisited one of my favorite Take-Away Shows. Watch here as Fleet Foxes perform in an abandoned wing of the Grand Palais.

dreaming

This morning I found myself thinking about summer.

For me summer means crisp white sheets and flimsy white curtains that let the sun in. The perfect glass to drink iced tea and lemonade out of. My blue deco fan turning back and forth while I listen to vinyl and write with my favorite pen. The perfect summer dress to laze about in. Hot days at the beach and throwing yourself into the waves until your chest hurts. Soft serve ice cream... just to name a few things.
